Fairfield drops road game at Manchester

The Fairfield Lady Lions were unable to win on the road Thursday night, losing their second game of the season, this loss being a Southern Hills Athletic Conference loss to the host Manchester Lady Greyhounds.

FHS (0-2, 3-2) lost by a 61-54 score, but after the completion of the first quarter, the Lady Lions and Lady Greyhounds were tied at 17.

From there, MHS doubled the second-quarter scoring of the visiting Lady Lions at 12-6, for a halftime lead of 29-23.

Manchester, again, led the scoring for the third quarter at 14-11, and in the fourth, it was close to even with the Lady Lions outscoring MHS, 20-18, but it was still seven points shy of the final total tallied by Manchester.

Kaitlin Evans was the leading scorer once again for the Lady Lions with 20 points, followed by Grace Shope with 12. As for Evans, she made five 3-pointers in the loss.

Also for the Lady Lions, Abby Newkirk collected eight points, and Carly Arnold finished with five, including a 3-pointer. Justice Hattan scored four points, followed by Haley Bobb with three, and Emily Teeters scored two points.

From the free-throw line, FHS was 2-for-5. MHS was 3-of-5 from the stripe.

Leading MHS in scoring was Tess Burns with 21, along with Morgan Johnson with 17 and Bethany Sweeney with 15 points.
