Fairfield cross-country ranked 9th in final state poll

The Southern Hills Athletic Conference champion Fairfield Lions boys cross-country team is ranked ninth in the eighth and final OATCC Division III State rankings in a poll released Thursday.
FHS received 82 points in the voting for the Top 10 placement in the rankings. The top team in the Div. III rankings was Maplewood with 180 points, including 12 first-place votes.
In second was St. Thomas Aquinas (168), followed by McDonald (148), Colonel Crawford (146) and Liberty Center (119) to complete the Top 5.
[[In-content Ad]]Ranked sixth through 10th were Anna (116), Fort Loramie (111), Fredericktown (89), Fairfield (82) and Carey (69).
Eleventh through 20th in the state rankings include: Smithville (51), Lincolnview (45), Botkins (24), Mount Gilead (23), Milton-Union (18), Mapleton (17), Minster (14), St. Henry (7), West Liberty-Salem (4), Fairfield Christian Academy (3), Garaway (3) and Summit Country Day (3).
The Lions will run in their district tournament race on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11:30 a.m. at Rio Grande. The Lions enter the SE District Division III race as the top-ranked team in District I. FHS will race 17 other schools in the event.
