Fairfield boys, Western Brown girls win 2019 Ohio Classic

The Fairfield Lions continued their strong start to the 2019 season by winning their third event in three tries, this time winning the Ohio Classic at Liberty Park in Hillsboro, defeating seven other schools en route to the championship.
FHS scored a 44 for the event, with second-place Miami Trace finishing with 61 points. In third was Western Brown (91), followed by Adena in fourth (102) and in fifth place was East Clinton (108).
The rest of the team finishes included McClain (132) for sixth place, Hillsboro in seventh (163) and Peebles in eighth (186).

For the Lions, their top runner was a second-place finish with Cohen Frost finishing with a time of 17:16. In third was Ethan Davis at 17:34.
Next for the Lions was a 10th-place finisher Blake Haines (18:49), and in 12th place was Gavin Campbell (19:22). The 17th-place finisher was Landry Hattan (19:54), and in 22nd place was Brant Haines (20:38).
Other times for the Lions included: Orrie Friend (23:28), Dalton Hamilton (24:12), Nathan Vidourek (25:53), Gavin Cox (27:30), Ben Elton (30:58), Josh Brown (31:23) and Hunter McIntosh (38:09).
Winning the race was Aidan Henson of East Clinton with a time of 17:13.
McClain’s top finisher was Nathan Ernst in 18th place at 19:59, and next was Lyle White in 19th place at 20:26.
In 24th place for the Tigers was Paul Bliss with a time of 20:44, and Luke Bliss followed in 33rd place (21:55).
Lucas Jansen of MHS finished in 41st at 22:26, and other times for the Tigers included Mason Reichman (23:13), Quinton Smith (24:00), Matthew Milnes (24:50), Gavin McCune (28:56), Phil Waters (28:56), Zane Bode (29:03) and Nick Cunningham (29:17).
The Indians’ top runner was Ben Sowders in 23rd place with a time of 20:40. Ethan Snapp was next in 27th place (21:09), and in 29th place was Brock Haines (21:45).
Other times for HHS were: Brogen Priest (22:27), Owen Ryan (23:10), Ethan Back (26:36), Liam Smart (29:08) and Kieran Conlon (34:50).
In the girls event, Western Brown won with 37 points, followed by Fairfield with 50 points. Next were Miami Trace (53) and Hillsboro (78).
The event was won by Katy Seas of Peebles with a time of 21:30.
Fairfield was led by Anna Davis in ninth place at 26:13, and next came Emily Price in 12th place (26:42) and Makenna Colwell in 13th place at 26:58.
In 16th place for FHS was Payton Harvey at 27:19. Also for the Lady Lions were finishes by Maddie Griffith (31:36) and Laynee Duffie (33:08).
Hillsboro’s best finish came from Rylee Callahan in 15th place at 27:09, followed by Karleigh Hopkins in 18th place at 27:30.
