Fairfield boys cross-country win McClain Invitational

GREENFIELD — The Fairfield boys cross-country team won the McClain Invitational Saturday with 48 points.
Also placing for Highland County were McClain in third (80 points) and Lynchburg-Clay in eighth (230 points) out of nine teams.
The Lions had three of the top 10 runners with Michael Mangus finishing in first place with a time of 16:19. John Cain was third with a time of 17:46, and Wyatt Crothers was eighth with a time of 17:59.
McClain's Caleb Mootispaw was second with a time of 16:55.
Also for FHS, Dustin Willey was 14th and Brant Huff finished in 22nd. Also running for Fairfield were Matthew Leach, Gage Montgomery, Jacob Dalton, Layne Irvin and Alec Irvin.
Jeremiah Savage ended with a ninth-place finish at 18:04, and Chris Eltman came in 10th at 18.10, giving the Tigers three runners in the Top 10.
Also running for MHS were: Evan Onusko, Tristan Smith, Adomas Fabin, Micah Mootispaw, Daniel Anderson, Ryan Bennett, Daniel Mottie and Joey Jones.
Running for LC were Ryan Inman, Colt Dunseith, Aaron Little, Jared McLaughlin, Cody Johnson and Josh Groves.
