Duffie, Hodson qualify for Division III State Track and Field Championships

Two Fairfield seniors have extended their track and field careers to one final high school race as they both became 2019 state qualifiers on Friday night, as both runners placed in the Top 3 in the 800-meter run in the Division III Regionals at Fairfield Union High School.
Brandtson Duffie won the regional championship in the 800m run with a championship time of 1:56.62, while Bennett Hodson had a time of 2:00.09 for a third-place finish. This is the first time in Fairfield history two athletes qualified individually in the same event.

Last year, Duffie was third place in the state race at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, where he had a time of 1:56.23 as a junior. In qualifying for state on Friday, this is the third consecutive year Duffie will compete in the 800m run at the state level, as in 2017 as a sophomore he was also a state placer with a time of 1:57.96 for a sixth-place finish.
This season since the Southern Hills Athletic Conference (SHAC) meet, Duffie has been on point with his 800m runs, where Duffie won with a time of 2:02.85. At districts, Duffie had a district championship time of 2:00.52.
As for Hodson, earlier this month, he placed second at districts with a finish of 2:03.54. At the SHAC Championships, Hodson was second with a time of 2:16.57.
The 2019 OHSAA Division III State Track and Field Championships will take place Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus.
