Division III Fairfield Lions place 3rd in Division I Bob Reall Invitational

One season ago, the Fairfield Lions won the Bob Reall Invitational Division III race in convincing fashion. On Saturday morning, the Lions upped their level of competition by two divisions, racing in the Division I race, placing third out of 21 teams.
The No. 1 Division III state-ranked Lions raced against schools much larger in boys enrollment, as the Lions didn’t bat an eye in their third-place finish with a score of 129. The only two teams to defeat the Lions in their impressive showing were race winner Olentangy Liberty with 65 points and Lancaster with 110 points.

With 159 runners in the Division I race, the Lions had all seven of their runners finish within the Top 60, with Noah Richmond leading the team with a 16th-place finish. Richmond finished with a time of 17:07.6.
In 19th place was Matthew Mangus at 17:13.0, and in 23rd place overall was Austin Setty at 17:16.9.
Bennett Hodson placed 34th with a time of 17:47.2, and he was followed by Ethan Davis in 42nd place overall with a time of 17:53.7. Cohen Frost finished in 57th place at 18:15.0, and Andrew Davis was 58th at 18:15.9.
In the girls Division III race, the Lady Lions were fourth place overall with 93 points.
Ciara Colwell was fourth place overall at 21:02.0, followed by Morgan Richmond in 13th place (22:36.4), Chloe Barber in 17th place (22:57.1) and in 19th place was Megan Gragg (23:44.9), giving the Lady Lions four runners in the Top 20.
Also for the Lady Lions, Sarah Young was 42nd overall at 27:09.9, followed by Meadow Cunningham in 51st (29:59.0) and Laynee Duffie in 56th place (32:00.7).
There was also a Division II/III Boys Open Race, where members of the Lions placed second overall as there were a total of 131 runners in the event.
In this race, the Lions had three of the top four finishes, with Brandtson Duffie winning the race with a time of 18:44.8. In second place was Blake Haines (18:50.8), and in fourth was Sam Buddelmeyer (19:06.1).
Brant Haines was 17th place overall in the Div. II/III Open Race with a time of 20:12.0. Gavin Campbell was 28th at 20:47.5, and also running for the Lions wereGavin Cox in 69th place (23:45.5), Riley Friend (26:20.3) and Orrie Friend (31:20.9).
