Coleman, Conlon, Hollar, relay teams compete at state

COLUMBUS — Hillsboro, McClain and Fairfield each had multiple athletes compete at the 2016 OHSAA State Track and Field Championships on Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Other than the racers who placed at the state championships, the McClain Tigers had two athletes compete in both the boys and girls 100-meter dash races.
Hillsboro Indians senior Mackenzie Conlon raced in two hurdles events (110m, 300m), and he was also in a 4x200m relay race with teammates junior Luke Gallimore and fellow seniors Anthony Anderson and Braden Wildey during the Division II Championships.
The Fairfield Lions began the day with a Division III 4x800m relay race with junior Trent Swisher, sophomores Matthew Mangus and Noah Richmond, along with freshman Brandtson Duffie.
With the Lions being a part of the first set of races of the day, the young relay team placed 15th out of 16 schools, defeating Twin Valley South.
The Lions finished with a time of 8:44.43, as Duffie began the race, with the second racer being Swisher, followed by Mangus, then Richmond.
McClain's Jhaela Coleman raced in the 100m dash in the Division II event, with the senior finishing 15th with a time of 12.68, improving on her regional time of 12.76.
Alex Hollar of McClain Tigers was also 15th overall out of 16 runners. The senior sprinter finished with a final time of 11.26, as he also improved over his regional time, which was 11.33.
The Hillsboro Indians 4x200m relay team was 15th in their race with a time of 1:33.21. The race began with Gallimore, followed by Conlon, Anderson and Wildey.
Conlon in his individual hurdles events finished 14th in the 110m hurdles at 15.37. Conlon qualified for the finals in the 300m hurdles. The senior finished sixth (the Top 9 qualify for finals) with a time of 39.42, an improvement of his regional time of 39.72. This was the third race of the day for Conlon.
Conlon raced in the finals of the Div. II 300m hurdles race on Saturday, where he finished in ninth place with a time of 40.29.
