Chayden Pitzer, Tristan Pitzer and Blake Adams compete at State Championships

COLUMBUS — McClain junior Chayden Pitzer and senior Tristan Pitzer, along with Fairfield junior Blake Adams, all competed in individual events on Friday with Chayden moving to the finals at the 2017 OHSAA State Track and Field Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Besides competing in the 4x200-meter relay, Chayden Pitzer also competed in the 100m hurdles and 200m dash at the Division II championships and in doing so qualified for the finals of the 200m dash as she ran a ninth-place time of 25.48, which was also fifth in her heat.

Pitzer will race again on Saturday at 2:40 p.m.

Earning her trip to the state championships this weekend, Pitzer was the Athens Regional champion with a time of 25.46.

Tristan Pitzer was eighth in his heat and 16th overall with a time of 22.94 racing in the first heat of the event. Pitzer was third at regionals last week with a time of 22.92, while at districts he had a time of 22.81 for second place and at the South Central Ohio League Championships in early May, his time was 23.14 for third place.

 

 



Fairfield’s Adams finished 14th in the Division III state shot put event. She threw three times, with her first throw going 36-02.50, followed with a no distance in her second throw due to going out off the throwing circle.

Adams had a third throw, and it was her best with a distance of 37-08.50.

This season was a success for the Fairfield junior as she became a three-time Southern Hills Athletic Conference champion with a throw of 37-04.25. Her best distance at districts was 37-06.00, and her regional top throw was 37-05.50.
