Cedarville takes home win against Lady Lions

In their next-to-last game of the regular season, the Fairfield Lady Lions didn't produce many points in the first half against non-conference opponent Cedarville, leading to a 66-54 loss Monday night.

Fairfield's loss at Grandle Gymnasium saw them held to 15 points in the first half, while their opponent scored a total of 31 points in the first two quarters.

In the second half, FHS had a 13-point third frame and 26-point fourth quarter, but their opponent combined to score 35 points in the second half to keep the lead and the win.

For the Lady Lions (7-14), Grace Shope led them with 19 points. scoring 10 of those points in the fourth frame. Kaitlin Evans followed with eight points.

Lydia Sowders and Olivia Bobb each scored six points in the loss, and Haley Bobb finished with five points, including one 3-pointer. Also for the Lady Lions, Justice Hattan and Blake Adams each finished with four points, and Abby Newkirk scored two points.

The Lady Lions were 7-of-13 from the free-throw line, while the Cedarville was 24-of-33.

Bolender led Cedarville with 29 points (12-of-12 from the free-throw line), followed by Melton with 14 points.

Fairfield wraps up the regular season on Thursday in a home Southern Hills Athletic Conference game against the Peebles Lady Indians.
