40 Highland County soccer players named to All-District team

A total of 40 Highland County soccer players were named to the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association’s All-Southeast District team for their play in the 2019 fall season.
Leading the way for Highland County was Lynchburg-Clay senior Kaylee Lunsford, who was named Division III Girls Soccer Player of the Year.
Highland County also had two coaches recognized, with McClain head coach Tyler Carman earning Division II Girls Coach of the Year honors and Lynchburg-Clay’s Brian Tatman named Division III Boys Assistant Coach of the Year.
Earning sportsmanship awards were the Fairfield Lions, Fairfield Lady Lions, Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs, Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs, McClain Tigers and McClain Lady Tigers.
There were a total of 12 players from Hillsboro, McClain, Lynchburg-Clay and Fairfield who were named to the All-District first-team in Division II and Division III.
Four Highland County boys soccer players earned first-team honors in Division II, including Hillsboro seniors Brock Haines (a center midfielder) and Titus Heiser (a midfielder), along with McClain junior center midfielder Braeden Bergstrom and senior center back Griffin Foltz. In Division II girls, Hillsboro junior forward Lexi Sheppard and McClain junior forward Kerigan Pollard were named to the first team.
In Division III, two Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were named to the first team in junior midfielder Hunter Balon and senior center back Blake Marcelino, while Fairfield also had a first-team player in senior goalkeeper James Bentley. For Division III girls, Lynchburg-Clay had two first-team honorees in senior forward Kaylee Lunsford and freshman forward Karlie Tipton, while Fairfield sophomore midfielder Cadence Saunders also received Div. III first-team honors.
Hillsboro and McClain had two boys players from each respective team named to the Division II second team. Honored for Hillsboro were senior defender Ethan Snapp and senior center back Landon Weber, while McClain’s honorees were freshman midfielder Haydon Hice and junior goalkeeper Noah Reeves. In Division II for the second team, selections for the girls included one from Hillsboro, junior midfielder Sami Blair, and one from McClain, senior center back Beckley Smith.
There were three boys players and three girls players named to the Division III second team. Lynchburg-Clay senior goalkeeper Gavin Stroop and senior midfielder Triston West, along with Fairfield senior forward/midfielder Jordan Cameron, represented Highland County boys. On the girls side, named to the Division III second team were junior midfielder Sierra Benney and sophomore defender Natasha Davidson from Lynchburg-Clay and sophomore forward Ella Newkirk from Fairfield.
For Division II honorable mention, Hillsboro and McClain had two players from each of their respective boys and girls teams recognized. For the boys, Hillsboro senior goalkeeper Jason Lovlie and junior center midfielder Logan Weber, along with McClain junior center back Richie Lester and junior forward Lyle White, earned recognition. Those honored on the girls honorable mention list were Hillsboro junior center back Zinny Adams and sophomore midfielder Brynn Bledsoe and McClain senior midfielder Kayla Anderson and freshman midfielder Payton Pryor.
