The No. 2 seeded Fairfield Lady Lions are sectional champions in Division III of the SE District, and they did so by defeating the visiting No. 15 seeded Piketon Redstreaks, 10-0 in one half of soccer at FHS.
With the new eight-goal lead rule at halftime or anytime in the second half, the Lady Lions wasted no time in gaining the win as they had two hat tricks, as the players achieving that feat were senior Faith Donley and senior Kennedy Zink.
Others scoring one goal each for Fairfield were Ava Hooper, Rilee Quickle, Ginny Trent and Emerson Zink.
The Lady Lions also collected three assists, with two by Kennedy ZInk and one from Landry Teeters.
Meri Jackson and Claire Newkirk each were at keeper for Fairfield.
The win by FHS leaves them with an overall record of 13-3-1, and they finished 5-1-0 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference this season, a second-place finish.
Next for Fairfield in the Division III SE District Semifinals on Monday, Oct. 23 against the Eastern Lady Warriors (a No. 7 seed) at Hillsboro, with the game starting approximately 40 minutes after the 6 p.m. game (Lynchburg-Clay vs. Alexander).
