Fairfield volleyball earns SHAC wins over Manchester, Fayetteville, West Union

In three games on three consecutive days, the Fairfield Lady Lions volleyball team earned wins in Southern Hills Athletic Conference contests, winning all three games at home against Manchester, Fayetteville and West Union.

On Tuesday, Aug. 29 at Grandle Gymnasium, the Lady Lions won against Manchester by scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-21.

In the win, it was Jobey Hattan leading Fairfield with 15 kills, followed by McKinley Cox with seven and Kelsey Clark with eight. Mackenzie Anderson totaled five kills, and Emily Taylor had one kill.

Fairfield also had 13 aces in the SHAC win on Tuesday, with Hattan and Clark each finishing with four, while Anderson had two, and with one ace each were Remi Moon, Alyssa Bales and Cox.

Taylor finished with two blocks, and with one each were Hattan and Anderson. Hattan also led FHS with 20 digs, while Jadi Howland and Clark each earned 13 digs. Also with recorded digs were: Anderson (eight), Moon (five), Ally Maynard (four), Cox (three), Haley Crabtree (three), Bales (three) and Taylor (two).

The assists leader for FHS was Clark with 19, followed by Maynard with seven, Moon with three and Anderson with two. Having one assist each were Hattan, Cox and Howland.

Howland led Fairfield with 23 receptions.

On Wednesday (Aug. 30), the Lady Lions won in three straight sets over visiting Fayetteville by scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-22.

In the win, the Lady Lions were led in kills by Hattan with 11, while teammates Moon and Clark each finished with six kills, Cox totaled five kills, and with four kills was Anderson. Taylor totaled two kills, and with one kill was Maynard.

Of the 19 aces scored by the Lady Lions, it was Maynard and Cox with four each, followed by Howland with three, and with two each were Moon and Hattan. Also with an ace was Bales.

Anderson and and Cox were credited with blocks, while Hattan led FHS with 10 digs, and teammate Clark had nine. Moon finished with five digs, and with four digs was Howland. Anderson totaled two digs in the win, and with one dig each were Taylor and Bales.

Clark led Fairfield with 21 assists, and next was Maynard with three, Hattan with two and Anderson with one assist. Leading in receptions were Howland with 12 and Hattan with 11.

Next for the Lady Lions was a game in SHAC play on Thursday (Aug. 31), with Fairfield hosting the Lady Dragons of West Union and sweeping their SHAC foe by scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22.

Hattan continued to lead the Lady Lions with 14 kills, and the rest of the kills included: Taylor (five), Moon (three), Anderson (eight), Maynard (one), Cox (three) and Clark (five).

Hattan also led FHS with five assists, while the trio of Moon, Cox and Clark each collected two assists. Taylor and Maynard each had one assist.

Taylor and Anderson were each credited with two blocks apiece, and Clark had one block.

Four Lady Lions had double-digit dig numbers with Hattan having 20, followed by Moon with 12, Howland with 11 and Clark with 11. Other dig totals included: Taylor (two), Bales (one), Anderson (one), Maynard (one) and Cox (three).

Clark had 24 assists, and next were Anderson and Maynard with four each. Hattan had two assists, and with one assist each were Moon and Lilly Bradley.

Leading in receiving was Howland with 13 receptions, Moon with 12, and with 11 each were Hattan and Anderson.

Fairfield is now at .500 for the season at 4-4 overall, with a 4-0 record in the SHAC.

Next on the schedule for the Lady Lions is an SHAC game on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at home against the Ripley Lady Blue Jays at around 7 p.m., following the conclusion of the JV game.
