Fairfield soccer teams host senior night

LEESBURG — On senior night Wednesday at Fairfield High School, both the boys and girls soccer teams were winners.
In the boys’ Southern Hills Athletic Conference game, the Lions won by a 3-0 score over the West Union Dragons, with two goals from senior Larkin Friend and a goal by senior Janre Lerio.
Assists were credited to Isaac Burns, Friend and Dane Hodson.
At goal for the Lions was Zane Matthews with two saves.
Seniors for Fairfield are: Janre Lerio, JD Duncan, Isaac Burns, Larkin Friend, Grant Baker, Daniel Ward, Alex Wiget and Dylan Herbert.
The Lions now stand at 5-11-0 overall and finish with a winning SHAC record at 4-3-0.
FHS has one regular-season game left, against the Zane Trace Pioneers on Saturday, Oct. 14 at noon at FHS.
The Fairfield Lady Lions won on senior night in a non-conference game Wednesday against the Southeastern Lady Panthers, winning by a 10-0 score.
Seven of the 10 Lady Lion goals were scored by seniors Kennedy Zink and Faith Donley.
Zink led the way for Fairfield, as she had a haul (four goals), and Donley totaled three goals for a hat trick.
Others scoring goals (one each) were Miley Brown, Avery Teeters and Kendal Welling.
Assists were credited to Donley with two and Kenzie Tolle with one.
Fairfield had two keepers on Wednesday, with Claire Newkirk having one save in the first half and Meri Jackson adding one save in the second half.
Seniors for FHS are: Faith Donley, Kennedy Zink, Avery Teeters, Kenzie Tolle, Emmi Vance and Caitlyn Quickle (manager).
The win sends FHS to an overall record of 11-2-1 and they are 5-1-0 in the SHAC, finishing in second place in the conference standings.
Next for Fairfield is a a home non-conference game on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. against Zane Trace.
