Fairfield Local Schools Board of Education seeks applicants for board member

The Fairfield Local Schools Board of Education seeks applicants to fill an unexpired term of a board member which became vacant on Sept. 22.

The board will begin interviewing candidates soon and must name a replacement within 30 days of the vacancy occurring. The newly appointed member will serve until Jan. 1, 2026. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next general election.

Those interested in serving on the Fairfield Local Schools Board of Education should contact Amy Buddelmeyer, district administrative assistant for an application. Applications are also available on the district’s website at fairfieldlocal.org.

According to Ohio law, people serving on Ohio school boards must be district residents, registered voters in the district and at least 18 years old.

Ron Friend, school board president said the board will review all applications and interview candidates at its Oct. 9 special meeting.

Deadline to apply is Oct. 6, and all applicants will be contacted that day.

Fairfield Local School District serves approximately 900 students in one building in Leesburg.
