Whiteoak students honor veterans

Wednesday, November 11, was Veterans Day and Whiteoak Jr./Sr. High took a little time out of the school day to honor the men and women who fought for our country with a Veterans Program. First, Mr. Roush welcomed all the brave veterans in attendance, and then announced the Voice of Democracy winners. Next, Ethan Hawkins, Senior Class Secretary, gave an opening prayer, which set the mood for the event. The prayer was followed by Mr. Roush's recognition of the veterans. Then, the senior class officers took it from there for the flag presentation, while band members Jessica Jones, Brian Simmons, and Ashley Crone prepared to play the National Anthem and Taps. Sophomore and Student Leadership member Bailey Walker gave a tear-jerking speech about   how much she appreciates all the men risking their lives to make hers better. Lastly, Mr. Roush gave his closing remarks with a special thanks to the student leadership team Ms. Hahn for their assistance with the program.
