Lead Summary

Jennah Lomske-
On Monday, Nov. 22, the Service Learning class held a community Thanksgiving lunch for everyone in the Bright Local community. It was held at the Presbyterian Church in the center of Mowrystown, and about 60 community members were served by the students. The students made about 30 to-go containers and delivered some meals to the elderly in Mowrystown who could not make it.
Sponsors for the occasion include: Kroger, Wal-mart, Old "Y," The Country Inn, the
Presbyterian Church, Ruthie Richey, Diana Stephens, Phyllis Bohl, and Amy Chambers. Ninety dollars were collected that day from donation cans to benefit the Bright Food Pantry, and an additional $100 were donated by the teachers. The funds were used to keep the pantry stocked for Dec. 4, 11, and 18, in which the Service Learning class was in charge of stocking and distributing goods at the pantry.

Over the three-week time frame, 38 or more families received assistance from the pantry. The class would also like to thank the community and churches who helped contribute to stocking the pantry as well.
