DECA competition started at the district level in January at UC Clermont and followed with a state level event in March at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus. Seibert’s event consisted of taking a 100-question, multiple choice test over general marketing and financial concepts, as well as creating a 15-minute presentation in which he was to advise a “client” (the judges) how to improve their credit score to prepare for a home purchase. At the International competition in Orlando, he competed against approximately 200 students from around the globe.

Seibert is the son of Dean Seibert of Williamsburg, and he plans to attend Miami University in the fall.

DECA is a career technical student organization for students who are interested in careers in marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, management and hospitality. The Western Brown DECA chapter is a satellite program of Southern Hills Career Center, with Mr. Mike Goins serving as the marketing instructor.
