Summer Tiger Bites is back at GEVSD

Beginning June 2, Greenfield Exempted Village School District will be serving food for children one year old to 18 years old.

It’s the third year for the summer feeding program and it’s called Summer Tiger Bites. With the exception of weekends and July 3-4, lunch and a breakfast for the next day will be served Monday through Friday, June 2 through Aug. 1.

The locations of service each day are the colonnades on Fifth Street in Greenfield from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the rear parking lot by the playground at Buckskin Elementary from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and the Rainsboro Elementary parking lot from 12:45 pm to 1:15 pm.

Parents and guardians may pick up meals for the children in the household during those times. 

There are no applications and the children don't have to live in Greenfield’s school district to participate.

Lanning previously said the district developed this food service program to help with food insecurity through the summer months. It’s something that the summer feeding program through Highland County Community Action helped alleviate for many years, but unfortunately that program was unable to continue.

The food service program is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
