Students inducted into SSU's first psychological honor society

The induction of 13 members officiated Shawnee State University’s first international psychological honor society, Psi Chi.

The Psi Chi Honor Society, which was founded in 1929 with the purpose of promoting educational excellence in the field of psychology, requires that new members meet an overall GPA that is in the top 35 percent and a psychology GPA of at least 3.00.

Additionally, members must be at least second-semester sophomores with a minimum of nine semester hours in a program that is psychological in nature.

The initiation of new Psi Chi members will be held each semester with the election of a new executive board occurring annually.

Next year’s executive board will be made up of the following members: Lynzee Murray, president; Leah Arms, vice president; Allison Falgner, secretary; and Janell Pisegna, treasurer.

Associate Professor Kyle Vick has plans to combine the newly formed Psi Chi with SSU’s Psychology Club fall semester, with honors members serving as the executive board.
