During the recent grand opening of Southern State Community College’s new Fayette Campus expansion, President Sherry Stout announced that along with the physical growth of campus facilities, the college is also experiencing an unprecedented growth in enrollment.
For the first time in the institution’s history, enrollment has topped the elusive 3,000 mark.
Fall quarter will begin Sept. 21, and preliminary figures are showing a 20-percent increase in head count over fall quarter 2008.
“Don’t let that scare you away,” Stout said to the crowd gathered for the Fayette Campus open house. “There’s still room for more enrollment!”
To make room for the influx of new students, the SSCC Board of Trustees is exploring the option of possible expansions into Adams County.
The board held a special meeting 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Room 110 of the college’s South Campus in Fincastle.
Prior to the board meeting, representatives of Southern State Community College toured Adams County to explore possible sites.[[In-content Ad]]
