SSCC Respiratory Care celebrates graduation

Southern State Community College’s eighth graduating class in the respiratory care program was honored during a recent ceremony on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro. Fourteen students successfully completed the program which began in 2005 and graduated its first class in 2007.

Program graduates include: Tresa Back (summa cum laude) of Clinton County, Travis Baker of Adams County, Jessica Brown of Ross County, Denise Drake of Highland County, Curtis Golden of Fairfield County, Curtis Hagemeyer (cum laude) of Clinton County, Bobbie Jo Hampton of Adams County, Jodie Huston of Fayette County, Tamika Miller of Fayette County, A. Diane Pickering of Fayette County, Jessica Reed of Highland County, Brandi Robinson (cum laude) of Ross County, Amber Spencer of Highland County, Thomas Spradlin of Highland County, Krista Trent of Highland County, and Jonathan Williams (magna cum laude) of Clinton County.

One $250 scholarship, awarded by the SSCC Respiratory Care Club, was presented to second year student Sarah Bradshaw. The club further awarded six $75 scholarships to graduating students Curtis Golden, Curtis Hagemeyer, Bobbie Jo Hampton, Diane Pickering, Amber Spencer, Krista Trent.

Recognition was given to the following clinical preceptors and instructors: James McManus of Adena Regional Medical Center, Pam Hoffmann of Berger Hospital, Missy Clawson of Dayton Children’s Medical Center, Carol Davis of Clinton Memorial Hospital, Jeff Davison and Karen Oyer of Fayette County Memorial Hospital, Tawney Mullins of Genesis Respiratory Services, Tammy Vandale of Greene Memorial Hospital, Tracy Puckett of Highland District Hospital, Susan Sears of Hospice of Fayette County, Tim Harding and Ann Scott of Mercy Health Clermont Hospital, Tom Heater and Jessica Whitlatch of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Charles Dietrick of Southwest Regional Medical Center, Julia Kinker of Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Carie Park of Miami Valley Hospital, and Melissa Klug of The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. The Most Influential Clinical Preceptor honor was presented to James McManus of Adena Regional Medical Center.
