The U.S. Army Recruiting Command on July 27 presented Southern State Community College with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of the college’s support. “This college is a huge asset to us,” said Staff Sergeant Gary E. Weekes of the Columbus Recruiting Battalion.

The certificate reads in part: “Thank you for allowing us to use classroom space for training and the track for physical fitness training and testing. Your concern for our men and women in uniform is inspiring.”
