SSCC, OCU partner to offer bachelor's programs

Ohio Christian University (OCU) and Southern State Community College (SSCC) are teaming up to offer Bachelor of Arts degree programs at four SSCC locations beginning this fall. This is part of OCU’s growing AIM Adult Degree Program that is offered at 12 campuses around the state.
“We believe many of our students will take advantage of the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree at OCU,” said SSCC President Kevin Boys. “To do so, they simply have to come to the campus they’ve already been coming to for two years while earning their associate’s degree. OCU is making it convenient and comfortable for our students to continue their education.”
As part of Ohio Christian’s AIM Adult Degree program, these campuses will offer bachelor degree completion programs in Business Management, Healthcare Management, Logistics Management, Leadership and Ministry, Psychology, and Substance Abuse Counseling. Designed for busy adult students, the AIM Adult Degree program offers convenient, flexible, and affordable degrees in an accelerated format with classes one night per week and one class at a time. On average, an AIM student completes his or her degree in about two years. The instructors combine academic credentials with professional experience, giving students the advantage of practical application of the knowledge.
“The purpose of partnerships like this is simple: To increase accessibility to higher education,” said OCU President Mark Smith. “We are going where the people are, close to their homes and into their communities to make a difference in their lives by giving them the chance to earn a bachelor’s degree. And we are fortunate to have fantastic partners like Southern State to help make this a reality.”
Upcoming information sessions will be held at four SSCC locations. Among the topics of discussion are the program advantages and format and financial matters such as program cost, financial aid and employer reimbursement. Beginning dates for cohorts and application procedures will also be covered. The schedule of information sessions is as follows:
· Aug. 7 – Fayette Campus (Washington Court House)
· Aug. 28 – Central Campus (Hillsboro)
· Sept. 25 – North Campus (Wilmington)
· Oct. 16 – South Campus (Fincastle)
