A reunion for displaced workers, “Workers Reunite,” will be held Wednesday, May 26, at Southern State Community College’s Fayette Campus, 1270 U.S. Route 62, Washington C.H.
“If you are a former employee of any business or industry that has suffered during our economic downturn, then we invite you to this special reunion to reconnect with your friends and former colleagues, to receive information about careers and resources, and to provide Southern State with feedback about your college experience so that we might serve you better,” said Jessica Wise, SSCC Director of Fayette Campus.
The reunion will begin at 4 p.m. in Room 174 with a career seminar, “Reimaging Today’s Workplace and Careers,” presented by Tom Payton, SSCC Coordinator of Career Services.
“There will be a brief forum to discuss the current job situation and to listen to your concerns so that we can identify services you might need to help you as you work toward a degree,” said Payton.
The social gathering will begin at 5 p.m. in the courtyard, with refreshments and music.
“We hope that you will find the gathering informative,” said Susan Long, SSCC/OU-C Academic Adviser. “But mainly we hope this will be a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with co-workers and friends. Come reminisce and dream again with those you considered family.”
