SSCC to host business & marketing fair

The “Leveling the Playing Field” marketing and business fair will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Appalachian Gateway Center on Southern State Community College’s South Campus, 12681 U.S. Route 62, Sardinia. The event is sponsored by Southern State and the chambers of commerce of Adams, Brown and Highland counties.
This multi-faceted workshop is designed for prospective, new and current business owners who are ready to take their business to the next level. Workshop topics are relevant to business owners, no matter what stage of development their business is in, and include:
• First Steps to Starting Your Business: Covers basic start-up information you’ll need to efficiently and compliantly begin doing business in the State of Ohio;
• How the SBA Can Help You Start/Grow Your Business: Overview of the goods and services provided by the US Small Business Administration.
• The Art of Effective Networking: Does the thought of walking into a room full of people and talking to them about your business make you break into a cold sweat? Well, if so, just know that you’re not alone! This class will give you neat tips and strategies aimed at helping you make your networking efforts both effective and enjoyable.
• Branding and Marketing Your Business on a Shoestring Budget: Class covers the importance of branding to the small business owner, cost-efficient ways to produce your brand, and low-cost marketing strategies.
• Crafting Your 30-Second Commercial: Your 30-second commercial is a short, sweet, clear and concise way to tell others what you do. This class gives tips and ideas to simplify the composition process.
