SSCC Foundation and Highland County Democratic Party announce new scholarship opportunity

The Southern State Community College Foundation has partnered with the Highland County Democratic Party to offer a new scholarship opportunity for individuals whose intent and desire is to develop leadership skills for the enhancement of the Highland County community.
The Highland County Democratic Party is a dedicated group of individuals who are committed to ensuring a stronger and more just future for every American, starting with their own community. They respect differences of perspective and belief and pledge to work together with neighbors to move Highland County forward.
Representatives reached out to the SSCC Foundation, expressing a desire to create a fund to support individuals interested in attending Southern State.
The fund has now been established and the purpose of the Highland County Democratic Club Scholarship is to financially support deserving individuals who prove (through their essay response) their understanding of how government is responsive to citizens, including an example of how a governmental organization (local, state, or federal) has been responsive to them, a member of their family or someone they know.
“Our Highland Democratic Party is excited to begin our connection with Southern State Community College,” stated Highland County Democratic Party Chairperson, Dinah Phillips. “We hope that this small scholarship will be impactful to one student this year and that we can grow our commitment to more students in the future. Education can be the road to independence for many people and we are grateful for the excellent opportunities provided by having SSCC in our community.”
