SSCC awards Wilson/Paeltz Memorial Scholarship to Haley Meranda

Southern State Community College is proud to announce the recipient of the Dylan Phillip Wilson and Nathan Paeltz Memorial Scholarship for 2015. The SSCC Foundation presented the award to Haley Meranda, a 2015 graduate of Georgetown High School.
“I would like to pursue my dream of working in an emergency room,” said Meranda.
“Hopefully, with a degree from Southern State, I will be able to achieve my dream and better the lives of others.”
With plans to begin classes at Southern State this fall, Meranda has decided to major in nursing.
“I chose Southern State because it provides a great education and gets you where you want to be in life through a two-year program that is affordable and rewarding,” she said.
This scholarship was established in 2006 to honor the memory of Dylan Phillip Wilson, a 1993 graduate of Georgetown High School. It was modified in 2014 to include Nathan Paeltz, a long-time childhood friend of Dylan’s and a fellow Georgetown graduate. The fund was designed to offer financial assistance to Georgetown High School graduates attending Southern State Community College. Today, the fund serves to honor both young men.
