A Milford Exempted Village Schools board member has been honored with the Ohio School Boards Association’s (OSBA) most esteemed award.

David E. Yockey, who also serves on the Great Oaks Career Campuses board, was recognized as a 2020 All-Ohio School Board member on Nov. 8 during the OSBA Capital Conference and Trade Show. OSBA Chief Executive Officer Rick Lewis introduced All-Ohio School Board members during the Opening General Session of the 65th annual conference, held virtually this year, Nov. 7-10.

Each year, OSBA names one board of education member from each of its five regions — Central, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest — to the All-Ohio School Board. The award recognizes outstanding service to public education and represents the dedication shown by thousands of board members across the state.

Yockey, who represents OSBA’s Southwest Region, is in his 19th year on the Milford and Great Oaks Career Campuses boards. He’s most proud of “seeing our school system getting better each year and providing more and more opportunities for our students and finding the funding to improve our facilities for student learning. During my tenure on the (Milford) board, we have built six new elementary schools, remodeled the high school, built a new board of education building and improved our campus and athletic facilities.”

The retired educator also serves on OSBA’s Board of Trustees and is a member of the association’s Southwest Region Executive Committee.

Founded in 1955, OSBA leads the way to educational excellence by serving Ohio’s public school board members and the diverse districts they represent through superior service, unwavering advocacy and creative solutions.
