American Government teacher Greg Haitz and English/government teacher Susan McElroy received recognition from Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel for their outstanding commitment to financial literacy instruction at Southern Hills Career and Technical Center.

During a staff meeting before their peers, Mandel’s representative Elizabeth Coe presented each with a portfolio that reads in part: Your dedication to the education of your students makes you a valuable asset to Southern hills CTC and to the State of Ohio.

Through the use of innovative tools, you have ensured that your students receive quality, practical personal finance instruction.

As a champion of financial education, you are positively impacting our communities by preparing today’s youth for economic opportunity which is vital to Ohio’s future. You are a tremendous role model for your students.

For part of this financial responsibility instruction, Mr. Haitz and Mrs. McElroy use the Everfi website, paid for by the National Bank and Trust of Georgetown.
