Southern Hills Career and Technical Center instructor honored

Mr. John Adams, welding instructor at Southern Hills Career and Technical Center recently received the Ohio Strong Award from the office of Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel.
Mr. Mandel states, “I believe that there is a quiet crisis upon us, and in order to prosper as a country we need to inspire more young Americans to pursue careers in the skilled trades. I launched Ohio Strong to recognize dedicated men and women across our state who work in these fields that are so vital to our economy.”
The award reads: It is with great pleasure that I, Josh Mandel, Treasurer of Ohio, present John Adams with the Ohio Strong Award which recognizes Ohioans excelling in manufacturing and the skilled trades for your outstanding work at Southern Hills Career and Technical Center.
Your dedication to the education of your students makes you a valuable asset to Southern Hills and the State of Ohio. By ensuring that your students receive a high quality education, you have demonstrated a commitment to innovation, a great work ethic, and high integrity, exemplifying the characteristics of this award. You are a tremendous role model for your students and exemplify what it means to be Ohio Strong.
It is important that hard work and integrity be recognized and honored. Therefore, I am proud to present you, John Adams, on this September 20, 2014, with the Ohio Strong Award for your positive work ethic, devotion to the skilled trades and commitment to building a stronger Ohio. Mr. Adams was nominated for the award by Southern Hills superintendent Kevin Kratzer. Adams joined the Southern Hills staff in 1995 as the welding instructor after working as a welder in industry for 18 years.
Mr. Adams generously shared the praise saying that it takes all of the staff working together to educate and encourage students to be successful.
