Snyder, Helterbrand awarded Hillsboro Lions Club scholarships

The Hillsboro Lions Club recently awarded two $500 scholarships to HHS graduates Madison Snyder and Jacob Helterbrand.
This is money being returned to the community from the club’s annual candy sales.
Jacob Helterbrand graduated from HHS with a 2.957 GPA. He competed in baseball for four years and was awarded first-team All-League in 2015 and 2016. He has also been awarded first-team All-District honors.

Helterbrand has earned his FFA State Degree for his work in agriculture and was very active in many FFA and 4-H activities. He raised goats for his ag project and helped younger 4-H goat exhibitors with their project books.
Helterbrand will be attending Wilmington College, majoring in agriculture studies.
Madison Snyder graduated with a 4.251 GPA, maintaining the highest GPA among all athletes at HHS. She competed in volleyball; basketball, in which she scored over 1,000 career points; and softball. Snyder has earned 11 varsity letters and several league and state awards, including Academic All-Ohio.
Snyder has acquired 150 hours of volunteer service over the past four years. She noted she has been a Special Olympics volunteer, along with 19 other volunteer positions.
Snyder plans to attend Ohio Northern University and major in pharmacy. She is enrolled in their six-year program of study, which will allow her to graduate with a doctoral degree and be a licensed pharmacist.
