SHCTC seniors earn certifications

Mrs. Ginger Ring, instructor of the Information Technology program at Southern Hills Career and Technical Center, announced that five seniors in IT earned one or more professional certifications.

Southern Hills CTC senior students who achieved PC Pro and/or Network Pro Certification are: Alex James, Eastern High School, PC Pro; Harley Shepard, Eastern High School, PC Pro; Tyler Griffith, Western Brown High School, PC Pro and Network Pro; Thomas McRae, Georgetown High School, PC Pro and Network Pro; and Brady Kirkpatrick, Western Brown High School, PC Pro.

LabSim’s PC Pro training takes a student’s knowledge and skill levels in PC repair and service from novice to pro. They learn how to build, configure and maintain a PC as well as learn the basics of networking and security. Using LabSim’s video tutorials, demonstrations and hands-on lab simulations, students learn to perform the IT tasks employers are looking for.

The LabSim PC Pro course prepares students for the following industry certifications:

• TestOut PC Pro Certification 
• CompTIA A+ 220-801
• CompTIA A+ 220-802

LabSim’s Network Pro is a complete training course in networking concepts. Students learn how to install networking hardware, configure a small office/home office (SOHO) network and connect mobile and desktop devices to a network. Through lessons, demonstrations, exams and hands-on labs, students acquire real experience in networking.

The LabSim Network Pro course prepares students for the following industry certifications:

• TestOut’s Network Pro certification 
• CompTIA Network+ (N10-005) certification
