Shawnee State celebrates homecoming

Shawnee State University is celebrating Homecoming on Saturday, Jan. 29 with the coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen with their court, halftime contests and games, and a new $10,000 Homecoming Shootout raffle.
The VIP Hospitality Room will be open from 2:30 to 5 p.m. for all alumni in attendance with snacks, drinks and free T-shirts for the first 200 alumni in attendance.
The theme is “White Out!” and the games begin at 2 p.m. with SSU Women Bears vs. St. Catharine Patriots at the Frank and Janis Waller Gymnasium in the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center. After the women’s game, the Homecoming Queen and King Coronation will take place.
At 4 p.m., Men Bears vs. St. Catharine Patriots will begin. At halftime, the Homecoming Shootout will take place with three random drawings from raffle tickets that will be on sale with a chance of winning up to $10,000.
The Mountain Dew White Out Giveaway will take place and free products will be given away to patrons leaving after the games.
The Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. in the Howland Recital Hall, Vern Riffe Center for the Arts and at 8 p.m. an Alumni Cocktail Party will be in the Grande Lobby of the Vern Riffe Center. The SSU Athletic Hall of Fame is inducting softball standout Brandy Osborne and basketball standout Tiffany Clayton Hudson.
