Highland County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce that John "Patrick" Roush of Lynchburg has been chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Highland County Farm Bureau.

Roush, a 2013 graduate of Lynchburg Clay High School, is the son of John Robert "J.R." and Dana Jo Roush of Lynchburg.

He plans to further his education at Morehead State University this fall.

"I have lived on an Ohio Century Farm that my family has owned and operated for over six generations," Roush said. "The hard work that I have experienced on the farm has come with great enjoyment and pride.

"It is highly important to me to carry out this tradition of operating our family farm with integrity and stewardship. Many small family farms are disappearing, and I will make the effort to sustain our farm for the years to come in the most efficient way possible. I have already begun taking advantage of the opportunities afforded to me, living on the family farm, by owning my own cattle and hay operation.

"The ag industry has provided me with an immense amount of opportunities and I wish to repay it with my services to the ag community."

The Highland County Farm Bureau Board of Directors wishes the best of luck to Roush as he endeavors to continue his education.
