Evann Mischal and Jaycee Olaker from Mrs. Eaton’s kindergarten class ring in the new year at “The World’s Greatest School.” Mrs. Rivas, who maintains this tradition, and the kindergarten students at Greenfield Elementary rang the victory bell at the beginning of their first school year. Kindergartners were assembled Aug. 26 for this occasion. All four kindergarten classes had a chance to pull the rope and watch the bell swing back and forth in the tower. It was a great way to celebrate the first week of their formal education.
For many years, the Victory Bell rang once every morning calling children from all over the city to come to school. It has been used to celebrate athletic victories, and it rings out at graduation time as well. At the end of the 2009-2010 school year the fourth grade students will continue this tradition by ringing the victory bell signifying their last day in school as Greenfield Elementary students.[[In-content Ad]]
