During Constitution Week in September, Greenfield’s elementary school principal read interesting facts about the Constitution in addition to the morning announcements.
Students of Karen McGuire were awarded “Golden Dollars” for the Constitution Week posters they made. Christy Davis had the winning poster and received the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Award Certificate and two United States flags in an awards ceremony presented by Kaye York-Longworth, Joan Moore, and Charleene Tarr.
A lovely educational display of the posters was created by the class, using a quote by Franklin D. Roosevelt: “The United States Constitution has proven itself the most marvelously elastic compilation of rules of government ever written.”
This project was sponsored by the Waw-wil-a-way Chapter.
Lynchburg Clay’s third grade students of Rachel Peyton’s art class made posters for the Waw-wil-a-way NSDAR Constitution Week Poster Contest.
From the 80+ entries, five winners were selected (one from each third grade class): Peyton Scott, Lindsay Hampton, Destiny Hart,
Hunter Ellis, and Allie Stroop.
Each participant was given a small gift. The five winners received a NSDAR Awards Certificate and a “Golden Dollar” presented by Katelyn
Tarr, Historian of the Waw-wil-a-way Society of the Children of the American Revolution.
The posters were placed on display at local businesses in Hillsboro and Lynchburg during Constitution Week, Sept. 17-23.[[In-content Ad]]
