Northeast Ohio school board member is 2023 OSBA president-elect

The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Delegate Assembly has elected Sally S. Green as the association’s 2023 president-elect. Green serves on the Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools Board of Education in Tuscarawas County.
She was elected during the Annual Business Meeting of the OSBA Delegate Assembly. The delegates meet each year at the Capital Conference and Trade Show, the association’s state convention that draws more than 6,000 school board members, administrators and other education leaders to Columbus.
Current OSBA President-elect Christine Varwig, a member of the Toledo City Board of Education, will become OSBA president on Jan. 1, 2023.
Green will take over as OSBA president in 2024 following her term as president-elect. The president-elect’s duties include serving on OSBA’s Board of Trustees and Executive Committee and chairing the Legislative Platform Committee and Federal Legislative Advocacy Group. She currently serves on OSBA’s Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and Black Caucus. She is president of OSBA’s Northeast Region Executive Committee.
Green, who is in her 17th year on the Tuscarawas Valley Local board, was first elected to that position in November 2005. She was president and vice president of her local board in 2020.
Green has served as her district’s OSBA student achievement liaison since 2006. In that role, she “loves bringing new ideas from other districts to our district and watching them grow and improve the quality of education for our students.”
She also serves on her district’s Fine Arts Council and Certificated Personnel & Benefits, Building and Grounds and Public Relations/Publicity committees.
