National School Choice Week Jan. 26-Feb. 1

The students, faculty, board members, and parent of Hillsboro Christian Academy would like to invite members of the community to celebrate School Choice Week during the months of January and February, specifically during the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2014.

"Education is an important issue which affects us all," said HCA administrator Connie Sears. "In this day and age of independent thinking and variety, we need an education system that provides an array of options and gives parents the power to choose the educational environments that are best for their children."

The Administration at Hillsboro Christian Academy has planned some events to celebrate School Choice Week.

Three specific events are designed to invite community involvement.

• Hillsboro Christian Academy invites anyone in the community to begin saving change from now through March 9. These funds will be used to provide the opportunity for low-income students who can’t afford to choose a tuition-based education. Collection of change would begin on Sunday, March 9 at the school’s monthly donation dinner and continue through the 14th.

• Wearing a yellow scarf during the months of January and February would designate that you are a supporter of the School Choice movement. A few scarves will be available through the school office – first come/first served until gone.

• February 1st will begin registration for low-income families who have children in either kindergarten or 1st grade who would like to apply for Ed Choice vouchers. The ability to receive these vouchers is due to the efforts of the School Choice Movement in Ohio.

Other students can register for the next school year as well, but it is essential for those who would like to apply for vouchers to begin their applications.

"We are hoping that many of you will want to join us in celebrating the opportunity to choose the educational environment for children by their parents," Mrs. Sears said.
