Mowrystown Thanksgiving lunch a success

On Monday, Nov. 17, the 9th period Whiteoak High School Senior Seminar students hosted a community Thanksgiving lunch at the Mowrystown Presbyterian Church.
They couldn’t have done it without the help of community partners Amy Chambers, Ruthie Ritchie, Tena Roler, Diana Stephan, and their teacher, Mrs. Juillerat. Also, the dinner couldn’t have been made possible without the sponsors: Naylor Heating and Air, Nationwide Auctions and Realty, Community Markets, The Old Y, LaRosa’s, Butterbee’s, Country Inn, and the Mowrystown 1st Stop.
Teachers and our Whiteoak band sponsored turkeys for the lunch, which helped with the cost of putting it all together. It was the third year the class has hosted the lunch and it ended up having the biggest turnout.
The students served more than 110 people who donated almost $400. All donations were given to the Bright Local Food Pantry along with any canned goods that the community members brought in. Overall, the students had a great time serving the community and felt that they were doing a good deed in helping those around them.
