The Bright Local sixth-grade science classes had a special guest speaker on Oct. 18. Megan Scott from the Highland County Soil and Water Conservation District office came in and gave a presentation about rocks and minerals, which is what the class is currently studying.
During the presentation, the students could use rock kits donated by the Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association.
Ms. Scott discussed the uses of each type of rock and mineral in the kit, then the students played a game of "Jeopardy" with their new knowledge.
Did you know that some kinds of make-up have certain kinds of rocks or minerals in their ingredients? That is just one of the fascinating pieces of information students learned.
Bright Local thanks Ms. Scott for spending part of the day at the school.
