McClain to perform annual 'Opening Night' show Oct. 20

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the McClain High School Performing Arts Boosters will present their annual variety show, "Opening Night." This year's program will feature songs and dances from the late 1990s to the present day. A total of 160 students will be involved. The concert choir, show choir and symphonic choirs will be featured. In addition, alumni and other community performers will present acts that are sure to please the audience. The show will consist of a variety of musical selections. Some of the most well-known "Saturday Night Live" skits will also be presented.
The proceeds from the show will benefit the choral department at McClain and will help fund the show choir's trip to Disney World in the spring. The show choir will be part of the featured entertainment at Disney World. The show choir has performed in the Macy's Day Parade in New York City, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, the United Nations and the Mall of America in Minneapolis. This will be their third trip to Disney. They have performed at EPCOT and Downtown Disney.
There will be two shows presented, one at 2:30 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the afternoon show is $4. Admission to the evening show is $5. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Please come out and support these outstanding young musicians, alumni and community performers.
The next MHS production will be a presentation of the award-winning play "Twelve Angry Men" on Nov. 16 and 17. Show time will be 7:30 p.m. The junior high Christmas concert will be presented on Wednesday, Dec. 5, and the high school Christmas concert will be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
