McClain FFA wins largest livestock invitational east of the Mississippi

On Wednesday, March 1, the McClain FFA livestock judging team won the Wilmington College Aggies Livestock Judging Invitational. This contest is billed as the largest competition of its kind east of the Mississippi.
At the contest, there were around 800 FFA members judging the various classes of swine, beef, goats and sheep. The contest represents real life application and hands-on learning experiences for the high school students that are competing.

The winning team was composed of Madison Schumacher, Bryn Karnes, Justin Hall and Destiny Trefz.
Along with the livestock judging team, the equine judging team also competed. The team placed eighth out of 52 teams. The team is comprised of four members, Whitney Blazer, Carlee Williams, Cheyenne Watson and Kaitlin Kellis.
The equine judging team judges three classes of different horse breeds, takes a written test and must identify various types of tack.
The McClain FFA is extremely proud of the teams that competed.
