McClain FFA members advance to state public speaking contest

Lead Summary
By
Abby Mustard-
Speaking in front of people is one of the most nerve-wracking things anyone could do. McClain FFA members traveled to Hillsboro to compete in the district public speaking contest.

Cade Sponcil placed first overall in the Beginning Prepared speaking contest. He had to write his own 4-5 minute speech and then deliver it to a set of judges.

Aly Murphy placed second overall in the Extemporaneous speaking contest. In this contest, she had to choose a topic and then deliver a 4-6 minute speech over her chosen topic.

Murphy and Sponcil will be moving on to the state public speaking contest on March 5 in Marysville.
