McClain FFA excels in Ohio FFA Agriscience Fair

Members of the McClain FFA Chapter recently showcased their research skills and agricultural knowledge at the Ohio FFA Agriscience Fair, earning numerous top-four finishes at the state level.

The FFA Agriscience Fair allows students to design and conduct scientific research projects related to the agricultural industry. Members may compete individually or as teams in areas including animal systems, plant systems, food products and processing systems, environmental services and natural resource systems, power, structural and technical systems, and social science systems.

Participants first submitted their research projects for state judging. Teams and individuals selected among the top four in their respective divisions advanced to the interview portion of the competition, where they presented and defended their research before judges.

McClain FFA had an outstanding showing at the state competition, with 12 high school projects and nine middle school projects placing in the top four of their divisions.

High school state placings included:

Evan Goddard and Izzy Clevenger — 2nd Place, Environmental/Natural Resource Systems, Division 4;

Chloe Cooper and Kambriah Tomlin — 4th Place, Food Products and Processing Systems, Division 4;

Aubrey Baldwin and Kenna Shoemaker — 2nd Place, Food Products and Processing Systems, Division 4;

Autumn Uhrig — 4th Place, Food Products and Processing Systems, Division 5;

Lila Banks — 1st Place, Plant Systems, Division 3;

Avery Murphy — 1st Place, Plant Systems, Division 1;

Zayne Knisley — 2nd Place, Power, Structural and Technical Systems, Division 3;

Brayden Shover and Cale Flowers — 2nd Place, Power, Structural and Technical Systems, Division 4;

Olivia Stegbauer — 1st Place, Power, Structural and Technical Systems, Division 5;

Hanna West — 2nd Place, Power, Structural and Technical Systems, Division 5;

Reese Roble and Maguire Ross — 1st Place, Power, Structural and Technical Systems, Division 6; and

Hailey Halterman — 1st Place, Social Systems, Division 5.

Middle school state placings included:

Julia King — 1st Place, Food Products and Processing Systems, Division 1;

Noah Hales and Liam Penn — 1st Place, Food Products and Processing Systems, Division 2;

Rooker Stark — 1st Place, Plant Systems, Division 1;

Addisyn Russell — 3rd Place, Animal Systems, Division 1;

Madison Bihl — 4th Place, Animal Systems, Division 1;

Bailer Trefz — 3rd Place, Social Systems, Division 1;

Ava Alexander and Kassidy Johnson — 4th Place, Social Systems, Division 1;

Andy Sykes — 3rd Place, Environmental/Natural Resource Systems, Division 1; and

Jack Bluhm and Maxtin Leber — 3rd Place, Power, Structural and Technical Systems, Division 2.

The McClain FFA Chapter congratulates all members who competed and represented the chapter at the state level through their hard work, dedication, and scientific research.
