Lynchburg-Clay FFA

Seventeen members of the Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter attended the 91st State FFA Convention held in Columbus last year.

Prior to the convention, members were able to tour Sugar Creek Packing in Washington Court House and learn how the company produces bacon for many area groceries. At the end of the tour, members received samples of their bacon bits.

Dawson Osborn and Hailee Waits represented Lynchburg-Clay FFA in the National Chapter Award Premier Chapter contest in the Strengthening Agriculture division. The chapter was ranked as a Top 10 Chapter Overall in Ohio. The chapter also earned a Gold Rating, which is the highest rating a chapter can earn. These rankings are based on the chapter’s activities within three categories: Growing Leaders, Building Communities and Strengthening Agriculture.

Member Loranda Wilson represented the chapter in the Ohio FFA Band. Her talent and love of music was enjoyed by all that attended the Ohio FFA Convention.

Eleven members earned their State FFA Degree. This is the second-highest award an FFA member can achieve. To receive a State FFA Degree, members must meet the following requirements: have received a Chapter FFA Degree, been an active FFA member for at least two years, have earned and productively invested at least $1,000, or have worked at least 300 hours outside of scheduled class time through an SAE, complete at least 25 hours of community service in a minimum of two different activities.

The Lynchburg-Clay FFA members who earned their State Degrees are Nathan Burns, Gavin Frazier, Ian Gragg, Kurt Hamilton, Ryan Hornschemeier, Madison Lake, Hunter Mootz, Austin Proctor, Brandon Young, Hailee Waits and Kara Williams.

Kara Williams was also recognized as a candidate for State FFA Office.

The chapter would like to thank their chaperones for the trip: Mrs. Lorrie Chaney, Miss Suzanne Kimball, Mr. Matthew Stroud, Mrs. Becky Williams and Mrs. Amanda Young.

Congratulations to the members and the chapter for all of their successes.
