In April and May, Hillsboro High School 9th graders read the novel "Two Girls of Gettysburg," and students met the Ohio author and former Ohio State professor Lisa Klein.

Ms. Klein conducted a morning presentation in which she asked students to look at pictures and guided them through a writer’s workshop.

After lunch, students viewed pictures related to her book and heard how she researches and writes historical fiction.

"Two Girls of Gettysburg" is also one of the middle school summer reading books.

To learn more about the MS/HS summer reading program go to the Hillsboro City Schools’ web page (www.hcs-k12.org) and click on student links.

Other books written by Ms. Klein include "Cate of the Lost Colony," "Ophelia," and "Lady MacBeth’s Daughter."

Klein’s appearance was made possible through a Choose to Read Ohio grant.
