Tracy Linder, a Hillsboro High School Spanish teacher, has been selected for the NEH Summer Scholar Program.

Linder was selected to participate in the NEH Summer Scholar Program for 2011.

The National Endowment for the Humanities  (NEH) selected 25 candidates to participate. She will be traveling to New York to study Latino Identity at Hunter College from July 10 to July 29.

The purpose of the program is to examine the story of immigration in America through the eyes of Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Dominicans and Mexicans who have established roots in New York City.

The summer scholars will investigate both the divisions and subcultures created by the mix and how the different cultures contribute to the vibrant forms of music, art, literature and language. They will examine how different generations of Latinos grapple with their heritage and American citizenship.

Congratulations to Ms. Linder for being selected and the opportunity to represent Hillsboro High School.[[In-content Ad]]
