McClain’s HI-Y Club is still collecting plastic lids to make into a Buddy Bench that will be placed in a school playground once completed.
One bench typically utilizes 300 to 400 pounds of lids. The lids are melted down and the plastic is used in the creation of the bench, which is used as a positive mental and emotional tool for children.

“We’ve collected 250 pounds, and we only need around 150 pounds more,” said Hi-Y President Sarah Free, while expressing her thanks to everyone who has helped.
If you would like to help make the Buddy Bench a reality, send in any plastic bottle caps and lids to Free at McClain High School. She is available on campus from 1:44-2:30 p.m.
