Leesburg Lions Club honors G.O.O.D. students

At their May 19 meeting, the Leesburg Lions Club honored eight Fairfield Local students from grades 5-12 with G.O.O.D. Program Awards.

The G.O.O.D. Program (“Going On Or Defeated”) was started by Ron Derry, an Ohio teacher who, after 18 years of teaching, suddenly went blind. At that point, he dedicated his life to encouraging people to understand that all problems can be overcome.

The concept of the G.O.O.D. Program is to recognize young people who work hard and exhibit standards of good citizenship, personal skills and study habits.

One student from each of the eight grades was chosen by their teachers and received a letter of recommendation from the teachers, a certificate and a G.O.O.D. T-shirt. The senior recipient also received a $500 college scholarship.

This year’s winning students were: Cody Ayers (5th grade), Gabby Cummins (6th grade), Kaylee Carder (7th grade), Kodi Haynes (8th grade), Brittany Ball (9th grade), Ashton Taylor (10th grade), Nick Huxell (11th grade), and Dalton Knisley (12th grade).

The Leesburg Lions Club congratulates all these fine students.
