LCHS senior Noah Scott nominated to Naval Academy

This past weekend, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) delivered remarks at his reception to congratulate the Class of 2016 Service Academy nominees and their families. 

Among the nominees was Lynchburg-Clay High School senior Noah Scott.

Scott is the son of mother Heather and stepfather Billy Pierce and father Stacey Scott and the grandson of Terry and Pamela Davidson. He has three sisters, Taylor and Peyton Scott and Maddie Pierce.

As a student at Lynchburg-Clay High School, Scott has served as vice president of the National Honor Society and as president of Student Council. He has also been a member of the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs cross-country, track, basketball and soccer teams and was a captain of the soccer team his senior year. Scott’s accolades for his play on the soccer field include being named second-team All-Ohio as junior; first-team All-Ohio as a senior; first-team All-District as a sophomore, junior and senior; and All-Southern Hills Athletic Conference as a sophomore, junior and senior.

Scott is employed at Butler Springs Christian Camp. His volunteer work includes taking two mission trips to Haiti.

During this weekend’s reception, Portman thanked Brigadier General Dana McDaniel, Director of the Joint Staff, Ohio National Guard, for hosting the ceremony at the Ohio National Guard Headquarters, as well as the Service Academy Review Board members who volunteered their time and energy to assist his office in selecting the very best nominees.

This year’s Southwestern Ohio nominees are from Clark, Clinton, Greene and Montgomery counties.

 
“Our nominees are among the best and the brightest from Ohio, and I would be proud to have them serve our country in the military,” Portman said. “The distinguished members of the Review Board have helped me and our office guarantee that young men and women like the ones we selected this year have a chance to get into one of the service academies, and I am grateful for their tireless and selfless dedication to continuing Ohio’s strong tradition of high acceptance rates.”

This year’s nominees are:

• Noah Scott: Lynchburg, Ohio, nominated to the Naval Academy;

• Mark Mumford: Dayton, Ohio, nominated to West Point;

• Carrie Gump: Dayton, Ohio, nominated to the Air Force Academy;

• Caleb Linder: North Carlisle, Ohio, nominated to the Merchant Marine Academy;

• Jonathan Thesing: Dayton, Ohio, nominated to the Naval Academy;

• Seth D’Allessandris: Springfield, Ohio, nominated to the Air Force Academy;


• Aislinn Fitzgerald: Beavercreek, Ohio, nominated to the Air Force Academy;


• Chandler Vandiford: Springfield, Ohio, nominated to West Point; and
 
• Matthew Kuhn: Centerville, Ohio, nominated to the Air Force Academy.
